About the Role

This role involves negotiating favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers. You will prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies for customer-related business processes or internal use, either as a generalist or across multiple purchasing disciplines.

You will broaden your capabilities within the discipline while building knowledge of the company, processes, and customers. Assignments will vary, and you will analyze situations using prescribed guidelines or policies with moderate guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies, evaluate product offerings, recommend suppliers, and negotiate contracts for assigned categories or departments.
  • Gather business requirements and identify and pre-qualify potential suppliers.
  • Develop and distribute RFPs/RFQs and collect bids or other information.
  • Evaluate proposals/quotes based on quality, cost, or other criteria and recommend the best-suited suppliers to meet organizational requirements.
  • Work with selected suppliers to develop mutually acceptable contractual agreements.
  • Oversee tactical purchasing operations, such as issuing purchase orders or processing invoice payments.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 2-4 years of experience OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong decision-making, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking and detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • May require working inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operating machinery.

Travel Requirements

No or very little travel is likely.
