About the role

The Procurement Specialist executes routine procurement functions with direction from the Procurement Manager, adhering to Cajun Industries’ Best Practices and Code of Ethics while contributing to the company’s safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains working relationships with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Works with Estimating and Projects teams to build requisitions and solicit quotes.
  • Expedites vendor quotes and maintains records of quotes/proposals and related documents in designated folders.
  • Reviews quotes and proposals for accuracy, resolving discrepancies with vendors.
  • Compiles data from quotes/proposals in a Bid Tab/review workbook and reviews with the Procurement Manager before turnover or purchase order creation.
  • Generates and executes purchase orders in compliance with Cajun and Client standards/requirements.
  • Answers RFIs in a timely manner.
  • Identifies cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or delivery schedule.
  • Maintains records of quotes, purchase orders, and applicable logs.
  • Reviews expediting reports with Expeditors to ensure on-time delivery and reports delays to stakeholders.
  • Attends and participates in assigned meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of work experience, with preference for experience in expediting, procurement, or business administration.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Remains in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods during office work and meetings.
  • Operates a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Frequently communicates and exchanges accurate information in person, electronically, and during virtual or telephone meetings.

Mental Demands

  • Directs, collaborates with, and communicates with executives, clients, and project teams.
  • Interprets and applies company policies, safety protocols, and written instructions.
  • Performs mathematical calculations, analyzes business data, and reviews project estimates.
  • Maintains accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail while managing competing priorities in an active office environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Processes, retains, and manages complex project details, contractual requirements, and client data.
