About the Role

Responsible for managing inventory and purchasing all materials needed for day-to-day operations in Production, Warehouse, and Facilities departments. Procures items by considering cost, quality, and delivery time for all supplies. Ensures materials are obtained in the most cost-effective manner while meeting industry needs. Also manages the Facilities team.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains an accurate supply inventory system in compliance with budgets.
  • Negotiates price and payment terms for all items to be purchased.
  • Prepares purchase orders for production supplies, spare parts, and equipment.
  • Reviews material requirements and seeks the most favorable product at the most competitive price.
  • Improves lead-time, product cost, and material flow on purchased supplies.
  • Ensures all purchases are performed in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Resolves manufacturing, delivery, and quality issues with vendors.
  • Maintains accurate SDS records for all materials.
  • Provides forecasts to key suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of supplies.
  • Manages relationships with key vendors and visits vendor facilities as required.
  • Researches new suppliers and recommends or selects appropriate suppliers.
  • Compiles records of items purchased and verifies receipt of purchases.
  • Assists in budget development for purchased items and tracks cost savings.
  • Completes position-specific training plan and engages in continuous development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required.
  • At least 2 years of related purchasing experience, with preference for 5+ years; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of contracting and negotiating.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of embroidery is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and multi-task.
  • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Complete knowledge of inventory control.
  • Ability to negotiate with vendors for the best product at the best price, including delivery terms on budget and schedule.
