We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to support purchasing operations and office coordination for a Long-term Contract position based in Edgewater, Maryland. This role focuses on securing the goods and services needed for daily operations while helping maintain organized, efficient business office activities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day purchasing activity to obtain supplies, equipment, and services that support organizational needs while promoting cost-effective spending.
  • Source vendors, compare options, and negotiate favorable terms for items such as office products, furniture, and service agreements.
  • Prepare, track, and maintain purchase orders and related procurement records to ensure accurate documentation and timely fulfillment.
  • Partner with department leaders to understand operational needs and provide guidance on purchasing timelines, processes, and requirements.
  • Develop, organize, and reinforce procurement procedures so that purchasing activity remains consistent, compliant, and well documented.
  • Deliver training and practical support to staff members on purchasing practices, approval steps, and proper use of procurement tools.
  • Monitor inventory-related purchasing needs and coordinate distribution of ordered materials to help maintain business continuity.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting corporate procurement activities, including buying processes, purchase orders, and vendor coordination.
  • Working knowledge of procurement policies, purchasing controls, and standard documentation practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate pricing and service terms with vendors to achieve value-driven outcomes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, managers, and external suppliers.
  • Ability to train others on purchasing procedures and explain process requirements in a clear, practical manner.
  • Proficiency with personal computer applications, data entry, and QuickBooks or similar business software.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
