About the role
Deutsche Windtechnik is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join their team in Humble, TX. The company's mission is to be the most trusted O&M partner to wind farm owners, and its vision is to empower the Americas' achievement of 100% renewable energy, one wind turbine at a time.
The role is typically scheduled for 8am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break, unless other arrangements have been agreed upon by the employer and employee.
Responsibilities
- Fulfilling purchase requisitions
- Entering purchase orders
- Negotiating pricing, quality of goods, deadlines, expectations, etc. with vendors and sourcing competitive quotes from vendors for various material needs
- Identifying new vendors
- Setting up new vendors in the ERP system
- Qualifying new vendors in collaboration with the EHS and QA department
- Leading the structuring of quotes received
- Liaising with suppliers and project managers regarding updates and details of goods
- Analyzing invoices to ensure accuracy of goods delivered
- Working closely with the projects team to understand details of procurement requirements
- Joining pre-deployment meetings to anticipate needs
- Reviewing cost proposals and pricing information to guarantee most cost-efficient options are chosen
- Assisting in preparing and administering NDAs, contracts, and term sheets with specific vendors
- Comparing bids from vendors and assisting in bid award determinations
- Evaluating vendor proposals to ensure that all requirements are met
- Confirming that terms and delivery dates are accurate
- Maintaining database regarding vendors' performance and quality of product(s)
- Maintaining positive working relationships with strategic suppliers to assure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met
- Analyzing market and delivery trends to develop procurement technologies and processes that support those trends
- Performing other related duties as assigned
- Supporting inventory management
- Supporting in updating Fishbowl system for increased efficiency
- Ordering and managing office orders
- Wearing the proper safety equipment when in the warehouse
- Reading and comprehending labels to ensure proper processing
- Following safety rules at all times
- Preparing orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in delivery area in coordination with the Inventory Manager
- Assisting with goods receiving, including unloading trucks and checking in merchandise, sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to organizational standards
- Handling packages without dropping or other brisk movements that could damage them
- Assisting with site transition process
- Assisting with onboarding new team members
- Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat, sweeping, dusting, and mopping
- Organizing warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times
- Assisting other departments as needed
- Assisting in counting physical inventory as needed
- Traveling as needed (up to 15%)
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Proven previous procurement experience required
- Inventory, equipment maintenance, data entry, and computer skills required
- Valid driver's license and excellent driving record required
- Experience in a complex supply chain industry preferred
- Previous QuickBooks experience advantageous
- Forklift license advantageous
- Additional certification in the field of procurement advantageous

Physical Requirements
- Willingness to perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 75 lbs
- Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or balance
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus
- On occasion, handle physically demanding movements like pushing, pulling, bending down, and lifting of packages
Work Environment
Duties are performed in a climate-controlled office setting or a warehouse environment which has ceiling fans but is not climate-controlled.
