About the Company

EuropTec USA, LLC is a U.S. glass fabricator with a long history supplying glass to the appliance market under its previous names of Marsco Manufacturing and Engineered Glass Products. Following an acquisition in 2022, EuropTec USA is now backed by the Glas Trösch Group, a family-owned Swiss glass company with $2BN in revenue and 6,000 employees worldwide. With two manufacturing facilities and a warehouse on the south side of Chicago, EuropTec USA serves the appliance (oven doors and microwave ovens) and lighting markets. The company is poised to enter the rail market by providing glass and frame assemblies through its relationship with Glas Trösch.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and coordinates activities of buyers and support staff engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • Executes negotiations with current suppliers to achieve cost savings and/or improvements in products/services.
  • Collaborates with engineering and quality teams in developing new products, parts, components, and tools with current and new suppliers.
  • Establishes purchasing policies, procedures, and programs to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials.
  • Prepares and assigns purchase orders and change notices to buyers.
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine material availability and prepares market analysis reports.
  • Monitors economic, industrial, and market trends affecting prices and delivery conditions.
  • Reviews and monitors requisitions, supply sources, quotations, and terms.
  • Recommends major purchases based on anticipated price changes or unusual availability situations.
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for compliance with company policy.
  • Participates in contract negotiations and vendor selection.
  • Monitors vendor performance and capabilities to ensure delivery, quality, and price commitments are met.
  • Develops and implements clerical and office procedures, workflows, and practices to improve efficiency.
  • Arranges for disposal of surplus materials.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises purchasing department personnel, including evaluating job performance.
  • Acts as a liaison between vendors and user departments when necessary.
  • May perform duties of a Buyer as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, logistics, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in procurement/supply chain, including contract negotiation and vendor management.
  • Manufacturing experience highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Infor.com), MS Office, and cost analysis tools is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in supply chain, business, or MBA.
  • Certifications such as CPSM, APICS/ASCM, or Lean/Six Sigma.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting contracts.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience managing a small team (e.g., one buyer).
