Procurement Engineer

Job Summary

Normal career level cap position within the engineering hierarchy. General analysis and implementation of generation technologies for application to Vistra operations or commercial development. Manage programs and projects to enhance the commercial availability of new technologies and enhancement to existing technologies.

Key Accountabilities

• Technical support for the development of commercial, environmental, reliability, and sustainability interests in new technology applications.
• Technical support to Operations in the application of technologies at operating plants or plants in development.
• Perform root cause analysis.
• Provide innovative solutions for difficult problems.
• Contribute to economic justification/analysis for projects.
• Participate in and lead special projects or teams.

Education, Experience & Skills

• BS or greater in an Engineering discipline.
• Licensed Professional Engineer or meets additional years of experience requirements.
• Demonstrates and applies knowledge of current and pending regulatory, code, and general industry issues to resolve Vistra’s interests.
• Proficient with technical evaluation processes.
• Proficient in fossil, solar, battery, or nuclear plant technologies.
• Minimum 8 years experience in power plant operations/engineering or comparable industries.
• Demonstrates application of fundamental scientific principles.
• Effective communication with peers, management, and external agencies; able to represent Vistra’s interests.
• Ability to execute projects/strategies with some oversight.
• Demonstrated high performance through consecutive evaluations or work history for external candidates.

Key Metrics

• Individual contributor in field of expertise, providing technical support fleetwide.
• Maintain effective working relationships.
• Explain technical information to ensure work/repairs are completed correctly.
