About the role

The Procurement Engineer will play a crucial role in the product development and manufacturing process, engaging in early involvement and cost reduction measures. This position requires a strong background in procurement and supply chain management, with experience in R&D, manufacturing, and supplier interfacing.

Responsibilities

  • Early Procurement Involvement: Engage in preliminary development, push forward cost reduction measures, and represent strategic procurement in R&D project meetings.
  • Early Supplier Integration: Include suppliers, conduct cost-benefit analysis workshops, and optimize material cost through Design-to-Cost (DtC).
  • Analysis: Initiate market observation, provide market information/analyses, and introduce new suppliers and technologies in the supply chain.
  • Alignment of Technology Roadmaps: Introduce and follow up given cross-functional Procurement strategies to ensure the linkage of commodity strategies and technological market trends.
  • Strategy Alignment: Support activities planned by the lines of business to harmonize and implement technological line-of-business strategies with procurement strategies.
  • Supplier Management: Technology assess and develop suppliers from the technological standpoint, focusing on the best suppliers.
  • Knowledge Management: Participate in workgroups and projects to stay informed and keep others informed.
  • Risk Mitigation: Apply preventive methods to minimize risk, maintain and improve specific requirements, specifications, and concepts based on supplier categorization.
  • Supplier Integration: Coordinate product/service qualifications and approvals based on specific requirements/specifications (Ready to Order).

Requirements

  • Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, 5+ years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, 3+ years of industry experience within a Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic component manufacturing business.
  • Prioritization of Qualifications: Master’s degree, project management knowledge and execution leadership experience, professional certifications (Supply Chain Management; Project Management), good communication, listening, networking, and negotiation skills, excellent analytical skills, and good judgment in assessing risks and control deficiencies.
  • Legal Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the US with no sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Preferred Qualifications: BS Electrical Engineering Degree, Professional Certifications (Supply Chain Management; Project Management), Good Communication, Listening, Networking, and Negotiation Skills, Excellent Analytical Skills, Good Judgment in Assessing Risks and Control Deficiencies, Self-Determined and Goal-Oriented, Ownership, Interpersonal Skills, Presentation Skills, Proactive and Team Player with the Drive to Implement Changes.
