About the role

The Technical Procurement Engineer supports the Superblock within the Defense Technologies Engineering Division, collaborating with engineering and scientific teams to define requirements, plan projects, and manage procurement of hardware, equipment, and services.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key interface between engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and suppliers
  • Prepare technical procurement packages
  • Review drawings and technical data
  • Analyze proposals
  • Ensure timely delivery of procured items
  • Address technical and regulatory issues
  • Maintain schedules, budgets, and milestones
  • Support manufacturability and process improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related experience
  • Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing methods
  • Experience with procurement documentation, project management tools, and technical analysis
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to secure a DOE Q-level clearance

Additional Qualifications for SES.3 Level

  • Lead complex sourcing strategies and organizational change efforts
  • Build cross-disciplinary consensus
  • Experience with engineering process redesign and MRP system implementation

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with high-vacuum, laser-mechanical, or electro-optical systems
  • Experience working with classified environments
  • Advanced degrees
  • Supplier management
  • Inventory planning
  • Supporting laboratory equipment procurement
