Procurement Coordinator
About the role
The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country, serving a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We address issues that span across city and county boundaries daily, impacting transportation systems, senior safety, job connections, disaster recovery, water quality, and more, aiming to make the region a great place to live, work, and thrive.
Responsibilities
- Manage procurement activities for goods and services using various methods
- Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and oversee the process through contract award
- Perform requests for bid/quotes and issue purchase orders as applicable
- Serve as a subject matter expert on procurement policies and procedures
Key Qualifications
- Relevant experience may substitute for education
- Strong experience procuring commodities and complex services
- Able to develop detailed bid specifications and requests for proposals (RFP’s)
- Knowledge of governmental procurement and OMB standards
- Experience with purchase order software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in public procurement or local government
- Familiarity with RFP, RFQ, and IFB processes
- Experience handling requisitions and purchase orders
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
- 3 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school, or in job-related duties
