Procurement Buyer
Summary Description
The Procurement Analyst/ Buyer will monitor supplier performance, identify cost saving and continuous improvement opportunities, perform spend & market analyses, and participate in supplier negotiations.
Essential Job Functions
- Identify and support cost savings, track and improve supplier performance, and find opportunities for value enhancement.
- Supplier Management: Hold suppliers accountable for delivering on service commitments, fostering innovation and continuous improvement. Measure identified supplier KPIs for quarterly reviews.
- Tracking costs: Maintaining records to track invoices and costs, and reviewing costs to meet budget regulations.
- Managing sourcing plans to ensure they reduce total cost and optimize value.
- Managing claims, and other administrative tasks.
- Reporting: Generating monthly, quarterly, and annual supply cost reports, including but not limited to departmental scorecards, spend analyses, SKU rationalization opportunities, spend reduction tracking, etc.
- Supporting procurement projects: Assisting with procurement projects such as the RFx process, cost down initiatives, consolidation opportunities, and similar efforts.
- Maintaining relationships: Cultivating new and ongoing relationships with suppliers as well as internal stakeholders.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong Technical and Analytical Skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, using ERP systems, and learning other Procurement software applications.
- Must understand “Total Cost of Ownership” concepts.
- Must be a self-driven problem solver.
- Project Management skills to set up processes that monitor project progress and completion rates.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Works well with others in a team environment.
- Must be able to work independently and handle multiple work assignments.
- Strong sense of urgency.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or Technical Field.
- 0-3 years’ experience.
Working Conditions
- Physical Demands- Continuously sitting for prolonged periods, as the job is administrative in nature.
- Visual/Sensory - This position requires attention to detail, requiring attention with one or two senses at a time.
- Work environment - Work and environment fasted paced, requiring ability to remain focused under pressure.
- Mental Stress - There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, project management, accuracy or similar demands.
