PROCUREMENT ASSISTANT 1

Full-time, 1st shift position at HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding Division, the largest manufacturing employer in Mississippi and a major contributor to the economic growth of Alabama. U.S. citizenship is not required for this position.

About the role

With nearly 85 years of experience, Ingalls Shipbuilding designs, builds, and maintains amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. As the largest supplier of U.S. Navy surface combatants, we are currently building four classes of ships and pioneering the development of technologically advanced, highly capable ships for the surface fleet.

Responsibilities

• Contact vendors and transportation companies to ensure materials, supplies, and equipment are shipped and delivered on promised dates.
• Determine when deliveries may be delayed and coordinate with purchasing, manufacturing, engineering, and other users to expedite material requirements.
• Maintain records and follow-up files of purchases, shipments, returns of damaged items, and related matters.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0 years of experience required.

Skills

• Experience with computer systems like SAP (nice to have).
• Experience in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Access (nice to have).
