About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Procurement & Materials Planning Manager to manage procurement, materials planning, inventory, and sales order fulfillment. This role will ensure the right materials are purchased and available at the right time while maintaining inventory accuracy and supporting on-time production and customer deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Manage supplier purchasing, POs, pricing, lead times, and supplier performance.
- Track supplier performance and escalate issues as needed.
- Coordinate with suppliers on lead times, pricing, and order confirmations.
- Support supplier onboarding and qualification process.
- Coordinate sales order fulfillment and production/shipping schedules.
- Manage and maintain customer open orders and delivery timelines.
- Manage global inventory levels, availability, accuracy, and excess/obsolete inventory.
- Provide reporting on material availability, PO status, and procurement KPIs.
- Own MRP and materials planning to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Maintain and improve ERP/MRP master data, BOMs, planning parameters, and processes.
- Lead ERP/MRP implementation and continuous process improvements.
- Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Finance, Sales, suppliers, and contract manufacturers on Project Planning.
- Develop reporting and KPIs to improve visibility, cost, inventory, and delivery performance.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through quote analysis and negotiation.
- Work closely with finance to reconcile invoices and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with internal purchasing policies and documentation standards.
- Assist in inventory counts and audits.
- Other work as assigned.
Areas of Accountability
- Materials Planning: Review material needs, align with demand, ERP/MRP management.
- Purchasing: Issue POs, confirm terms, track purchase order status.
- Sales Order Management: Monitor open orders, update on status, manage customer expectations.
- Supplier Management: Address supplier issues, manage performance, develop KPIs.
- Reporting: Maintain dashboards, update stakeholders on status.
- Continuous Improvement: Coordinate and participate in continuous improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, and highly organized with strong procurement, MRP/ERP, inventory, and manufacturing experience. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and building processes and systems as the organization grows.
- Self-starter but capable of working in a team environment.
- Demonstrated competency with cross-functional engagement and collaboration.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, projects, or tasks, identify the critical path and major milestones, and drive all issues to conclusions with minimum supervision.
- Effective written and communication skills.
- Highly analytical, with strong organizational skills and emphasis on effective multitasking.
- Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) systems and Collaborative Planning tools.
