About the role
Pettibone is hiring a Procurement Analyst to support purchasing, supplier performance, inventory planning, and cost control for their manufacturing operation in Baraga, Michigan.
Responsibilities
- Manage supplier relationships to support quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
- Review system messages and place purchase orders accurately and on time.
- Plan assigned commodities at the SKU level with input from production, inventory, engineering, and other teams.
- Maintain inventory levels to support continuous production while improving inventory turns.
- Monitor supplier performance, on-time delivery, shortages, purchase price variance, and other key metrics.
- Follow up on delayed parts, shortages, pricing questions, and order issues before they become bigger problems.
- Negotiate material pricing and help offset supplier cost increases.
- Review shipment options; look for smart ways to consolidate freight and improve transportation routes.
- Learn assigned commodities and supplier capabilities so you can make stronger purchasing decisions.
- Participate in product development, value engineering, and continuous improvement projects with suppliers and internal teams.
Requirements
- 1 or more years of experience in a supply chain or purchasing position required; manufacturing experience preferred.
- A high school diploma required; a degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience with planning, scheduling, inventory control, or Lean Manufacturing helpful.
- A working knowledge of ERP systems, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and purchasing or inventory software; MRP system experience is helpful.
