About the role
The Processor is the key contact between the borrower and the Mortgage Loan Operation, communicating with borrowers through verbal and written communication. They review and request documents required for the underwriter to clear the file for closing, index new inbound documents, and place them in the correct file locations. The Processor determines when loans are ready to be returned to the underwriter for subsequent review, manages their pipeline of loans, and communicates loan status to Sales personnel (Loan Officer).
As a Process Specialist, you will execute transactions as per prescribed guidelines and timelines, validate inputs from team members, support training activities, and assist in escalation resolution to meet service level agreement targets. Responsibilities include transition coordination, process training and certifications, talent management, Service Level Agreement compliance, process compliance, customer interactions, knowledge management, and process reengineering.
Responsibilities
- Process files from opening through closing of each loan.
- Take ownership of loan files once received from the mortgage loan officer.
- Serve as the primary contact for all parties involved in the mortgage loan process.
- Assemble all loan documents necessary to meet underwriting guidelines and Automated Underwriting System findings.
- Conduct Welcome calls and document notice of intent.
- Follow up with the borrower on loan progress.
- Review all documents for accuracy and completeness, determining necessary documentation for the mortgage loan file.
- Perform data validation and update Empower notes.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Basic High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of mortgage processing experience (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly adaptable team player with strong attention to detail.
- Experience with Empower or other Mortgage Loan Applications and managing multiple loan officer relationships.
- NMLS/Certification is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of commonly used mortgage concepts, practices, procedures, and Fannie/Freddie guidelines.
- Problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in MS Office and Empower.
- Able to work overtime as business needs dictate.
