Under the direction of the Lead Manufacturing Supervisor, the Processing Technician 2 supports the injection molding departments' operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Start-up of all down machines when ready.
  • Attend and actively participate in tech meetings.
  • Maintain housekeeping, including purge and scrap parts.
  • Check process parameters and ensure all alarms are on and active.
  • Submit first pieces to the Quality Lab.
  • Complete material changes and set scales.
  • Provide troubleshooting support to the production group to correct problems.
  • Act as the liaison between Production and the Process Engineering department.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and make recommendations for processing issues.
  • Start up presses after mold changes, conversions, material changes, rehangs, repairs, mold cleans, or other reasons.
  • Manage regrind and scrap.
  • Assist with automation alarms and troubleshooting.
  • Enter all downtime and scrap codes accurately for future analysis using the Process Monitoring System (Mattec).
  • Work with the Industrial Engineering team to ensure proper documentation is created and distributed regarding process sheets and deviations.
  • Respond to inquiries and communicate with other company personnel using the company-provided radio while following radio etiquette and policy.
  • Properly store equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.
  • Evaluate current state processing conditions and recommend improvement plans as needed.
  • Develop procedures for production-related duties that may be used as reference/training materials.
  • Assist in audit preparedness for both internal and external audits.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency, required.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Process Technician preferred.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent mechanical skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work for up to 12-hour shifts.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of SPC principles.
  • Advanced education in injection molding (e.g., WCTC Apprenticeship program, Paulson Training, RJG training) preferred.
