About the role

The Processing Shift Supervisor at 101 oversees production operations during the assigned shift, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. This role leads production staff, manages workflow, resolves issues in real time, and acts as the key point of contact for shift performance.

Schedule

Second Shift: Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM + occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and promote the company’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Comply with all company policies, safety procedures, and food safety requirements.
  • Operate forklifts, yard trucks, and all production equipment (e.g., extruders, balers, conveyors, pumps, pressure washers, refrigeration systems).
  • Lead and coordinate shift operations, providing coverage for team roles as needed.
  • Review production schedules and prioritize work to meet operational needs.
  • Ensure loads are processed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify maintenance needs.
  • Verify load paperwork, production records, and shift documentation for accuracy.
  • Train employees on procedures, safety requirements, and operational standards.
  • Complete supervisor inspections, checklists, and cleaning documentation.
  • Remain actively engaged on the production floor throughout the shift.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, leadership, and incoming/outgoing shifts.
  • Manage employee attendance, staffing needs, corrective actions, and scheduling communication.
  • Perform duties of Shift Leads, Operators, and other production team members when required.
  • Attend required meetings, training sessions, and development programs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and leadership development opportunities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6-12 months of experience in a lead, senior operator, or similar production role.
  • Forklift and yard truck operation experience, or the ability to become certified.
  • Working knowledge of production equipment (e.g., extruders, balers, conveyors, pumps, pressure washers, refrigeration systems).
  • Ability to read schedules, prioritize tasks, and adjust to changing production demands.
  • Understanding of food/feed safety, sanitation, quality standards, and cGMP requirements.
  • Experience completing production records, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Proven leadership skills, including coaching, training, accountability, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and solve problems quickly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dependable attendance and consistent job performance.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as needed.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning, leadership growth, and process improvement.
  • Must follow facility hygiene standards and all food safety regulations.
  • Must remove all jewelry, watches, and visible piercings before entering production areas.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, kneel, climb stairs, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to safely operate industrial equipment, including forklifts, yard spotters, and other material handling equipment after successful completion of required training and certification.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery and equipment while maintaining awareness of surroundings and following all safety protocols.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for grasping, handling, and operating tools, controls, and computer equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand work instructions, safety procedures, production documentation, and team communications.
  • Ability to visually inspect products, equipment, and work areas to identify quality, safety, and operational issues.
  • Ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions, alarms, warning signals, and other workplace communications.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and shift coverage as needed to support business operations.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily in a processing facility with regular exposure to machinery, moving equipment, forklifts, and production operations.
  • Frequent exposure to extreme varying temperatures, humidity levels, dust, odors, noise, and outdoor weather conditions when working in production, warehouse, or yard areas.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include non-slip safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, high-visibility clothing, and other equipment as required by company policy.
  • Environment may involve exposure to raw materials (dairy), finished animal feed products, and ingredients used in the manufacturing process.
  • Position requires adherence to all food safety, quality assurance, biosecurity, and workplace safety requirements.
  • This is a hands-on leadership position that requires regular presence on the production floor to monitor operations, provide direction, and support team members.
  • Occasional work in confined spaces, elevated work areas, or outdoor locations may be required in accordance with safety procedures and training.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to operational issues, and make decisions under time-sensitive conditions.

$24-$26/hour
