About the role

Reporting to a Lead person or Plant Supervisor, the Automated Processing Operator performs all tasks associated with the Kiln, Loader, and Bulk Loading Lab.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all work in a safe, efficient manner; correct and report safety issues, recognize opportunities for improvement, and complete near-miss cards.
  • Complete pre-shift safety and general inspections of the work area, documenting findings and concerns on a standard form.
  • Generate necessary work orders and verify completed maintenance work using the work order system.
  • Become trained and self-sufficient on operating the Kiln, Lab, and Loader.
  • Assist operators with tasks such as changing Rotex and Sifter Screens.
  • Back up or fill in for operators as needed.
  • Transport garbage to dumpsters.
  • Operate mobile equipment including forklift, front-end loader, and skid steer.
  • Assist in maintaining all equipment in the processing area.
  • Troubleshoot daily routine maintenance of equipment, including basic repairs and lubrication; assist maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Perform conveyor safety and maintenance.
  • Perform lock-out procedures, including knowledge of alarm systems and troubleshooting mechanical problems in the mill and dryer areas.
  • Keep work areas clean and free of clutter.
  • Participate in improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must meet skills assessment requirements.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and act on SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and PWIs (Process Work Instructions).
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Ability to visually monitor electronic equipment, cameras, and control panels to interpret data and take appropriate actions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend product specifications.
  • Understanding of process controls and safety requirements.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use tools and enter data into computer databases.
  • Willingness to make decisions within the scope of responsibilities and be accountable for those decisions.
  • Physical ability to:
    • Stand for the duration of the shift.
    • Lift 50 pounds frequently throughout the shift.
    • Perform bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently.
    • Climb ladders up to 110 feet.
    • Talk and hear radio communications as well as phone.
  • Ability to function in the required role while wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including safety glasses, hearing protection, dust mask, protective coveralls, and others as required by a hot, cold, dusty, and loud industrial environment.

Pay

$20.82 per hour.
