About the role

Maintains production, safety, and quality by ensuring operation of plant, machinery, and mechanical equipment. Backfills openings due to vacation, disability, or other staffing losses to reduce or eliminate overtime.

12-hour rotational shift on a 2-2-3 split schedule.

Responsibilities

• Operate the process responsibly to ensure operational efficiency, safety, productivity, and environmental compliance, including loader operations, bark pile management, and control room operations.
• Backfill call-offs and other staffing events as directed by management, covering single-day absences with the on-duty and oncoming production crews.
• Support a WCO Pillar Board as a team member, planning and scheduling activities during weekly meetings, completing tasks such as PM completion, monthly inspections, RIP reviews, and T&Q data collection.
• Maintain the ability to operate the process, including daily rotation to the loader for stockpiling and managing raw materials, feeding raw material to the plant, and moving loaded char trailers.
• Participate in weekly maintenance meetings to develop, plan, and complete maintenance activities, including housekeeping and maintenance help during burnout and outages.
• Perform plant and equipment cleaning, including hosing down, sweeping, shoveling, and grounds keeping. Support Journey Mapping, HOP, WCO activities (WPO, BDE, RIP reviews), and Kaizen events.
• Address plant downtime events on shift, troubleshoot root causes, determine resource needs, follow call-in procedures, and communicate with management for approval of overtime resources.
• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance (PMs or CILs) on conveyor systems and production machines, following manuals, manufacturer instructions, and OEM specifications.
• Leverage SAP PM to create work requests and follow-up orders to support historical plant maintenance data.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, possessing a full understanding of plant operating equipment and processes.
• Provide mechanical maintenance information as an equipment owner or subject matter expert to complete T&Q training documents, operating procedures, BDEs, and Kaizens.
• Maintain technical knowledge by staying current with Process Technician Qualification Requirements and seeking training for any known deficiencies.
• Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and information sharing to ensure process stability.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with WPO procedures and rules, performing plant clean-up, and grounds keeping at least weekly or as needed.
• Support site security measures and ensure compliance.
• Update production tracking using SAP BW and the Daily Ops database for morning meetings (3rd shift).

Qualifications

• Ability to operate plant machinery and mechanical equipment, including loaders and control room systems.
• Experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and process stability.
• Familiarity with SAP PM and SAP BW for maintenance and production tracking.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to support shift exchanges and continuity.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $31.04
