About the role

The Process Technician– ELYSIS position at Alcoa is part of a development team focused on innovative technology. This role involves leading and executing tasks such as material batching, material handling, and equipment operation and maintenance. Responsibilities also include preparing and testing samples for chemical composition and physical properties, developing and maintaining safe work instructions, and operating various equipment like overhead cranes, forklifts, and mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and executing tasks including material batching, material handling, and equipment operation and maintenance
  • Preparing and testing samples for chemical composition and physical properties using laboratory analytical equipment
  • Assisting with equipment operation and maintenance
  • Developing and recommending innovative procedures to solve problems
  • Coordinating activities related to projects, ensuring documentation, schedule, and metrics are met
  • Executing designed experiments, recording and analyzing data, and communicating results and observations to other team members

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Strong aptitude in a skilled trade (e.g., vocational training in mechanical, electrical, automotive, HVAC, carpentry, welding, or plumbing)
  • 2+ years work experience in an industrial environment with emphasis on material handling
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented and learning environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong safety focus according to Alcoa EHS standards, protocols, and tools
  • Proficient computer skills: MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, JMP, MS Access or other database
  • Strong documentation, organization, and analytical skills for data management, analysis, and results presentation

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating day and evening shift schedule
  • Independent task outlining and performance with infrequent review of progress and results
  • Coordination of project activities and execution of designed experiments

Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams for equipment disassembly, repair, and troubleshooting
  • Strong safety focus according to Alcoa EHS standards, protocols, and tools
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills: MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, JMP, MS Access or other database
  • Strong documentation, organization, and analytical skills for data management, analysis, and results presentation

Pay

Schedule

Initially, the schedule will be Monday - Friday daylight shifts. The technician must be able to eventually work a 12-hour rotating day and evening shift schedule.
