What To Expect The Process Technician
The Process Technician performs process-sustaining tasks for the manufacturing line, involving a variety of mechanical and chemical processes. These tasks include:
- Responding to out-of-control processes
- Working on yield improvement projects
- Handling special case non-conforming materials from the manufacturing line
- Qualifying new equipment and processes introduced into the manufacturing line
Additionally, the technician conducts supporting activities for engineering and manufacturing, such as:
- 5S and Lean manufacturing initiatives
- Yield improvement
- Scrap reduction
- Production line configuration
- Implementation of safety procedures
What You'll Do
Support Engineering and Manufacturing by improving and updating manufacturing instructions, including rework procedures, and maintaining current qualification schedules.
Train associates on new or revised manufacturing instructions.
Provide daily coverage of production line processes to ensure smooth operations, with a rapid response to out-of-control processes for cost minimization and productivity maximization.
Investigate and implement countermeasures to improve process Cpk and product yield.
Execute experiments and analyze data, including DOE and GR&R, under the direction of process engineers.
Lead special case disposition of non-conformance materials from the production line, escalating issues to the production engineering team as needed.
Support Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives; Responsible for parts and tools inventory.
What You'll Bring
- Associate’s Degree, Technical Certificate or equivalent experience
- Strong proficiency in common workplace software (MS Word, Excel, Visio, Access, etc.)
- Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Skilled with the use of a variety of hand and portable tools
- Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematic
- Command of the English language, both written and verbal
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
- Frequent and repetitive lifting, pushing, and carrying up to 30 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Frequent and repetitive bending, lifting, and reaching to install parts
