Process Technician (2nd Shift) - AOEM

About the role

We are seeking a full-time Process Technician (2nd Shift) in automotive manufacturing at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will support Engineering in current and new manufacturing processes to ensure compliance and production standards are met.

Responsibilities

• Assist Engineers in procurement and/or design of components, equipment fabrication/tooling, and process improvements
• Apply expertise to develop and continuously improve production methods including layout, production flow, tooling and production equipment, material, fabrication, and assembly methods requirements
• Write rework shop orders, instructions, and routings
• Update and maintain work instructions and implement Engineering change orders
• Assist manufacturing with the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment
• Own assigned projects and tasks
• Coordinate and/or perform preventive maintenance on production equipment
• Monitor statistical methods to analyze product or process performance
• Manage production tools, jigs, and fixtures in accordance with documented Engineering requirements and Lean principles such as Poka Yoke
• Assist management and process engineering in training production staff
• Control expenditures within project budget
• Prepare recommendations for reorganization of work cells and job duties to increase efficiency and eliminate excess steps and labor costs
• Manage production metric data, prepare reports, and present to peers and management
• Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure associate safety
• Maintain cleanliness zone area requirements, including wearing Garmin-provided personal protective equipment (e.g., static dissipative footwear) for the entire shift to minimize electrostatic discharge (ESD) risks

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years related production experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
• Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to lift up to 55 pounds using safe lifting techniques and stand for an entire shift

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Industrial, or Manufacturing Technology or a substantially related field
• Previous experience with automated assembly and testing equipment
• Previous experience with computer-aided drafting (CAD) applications
• Previous electronics soldering experience
• Previous experience with IATF 16949, VDA, and APQP topics
• Previous experience in Quality at an AOEM Tier 1 or Tier 2 production facility
