Process Piping Engineering Lead - San Francisco, CA
About the role
The Process Piping Engineering Lead role is a dynamic career path in cutting-edge facility engineering, focusing on technical excellence, innovation, and team development. This role plays a critical role in designing and developing advanced process systems for semiconductor, science and technology, healthcare, and advanced technology facilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage design projects in clean rooms, fabrication facilities, microelectronics, industrial R&D labs, and hospital environments.
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and process piping designs.
- Design high-purity water systems, bulk and specialty gas storage and distribution systems, and hazardous wastewater treatment.
- Prepare technical specifications and datasheets for process equipment.
- Stamp and sign engineering documents including drawings, reports, specifications, and calculations for submission to Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
- Cookordination with external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure project alignment and compliance.
- Provide construction administration support including submittals, RFIs, and site visits.
- Lead and develop a team of process engineers, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and industry standards, including NFPA, Building, Plumbing, and Mechanical Codes.
- Utilize design coordination software, including Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Revit.
- Drive client satisfaction through effective project execution and strong business relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
- Professional Engineering Stamp – Mechanical or Chemical (in CA, or willing to get reciprocity in CA).
- 7+ years of experience in design and construction within the AEC industry.
- Experience managing process system design within a consulting engineering or A/E firm.
- Proven expertise in semiconductor, microelectronics, R&D, and clean room environments.
- Strong knowledge of Building and Mechanical Codes, NFPA, and other relevant industry standards.
- Experience leading and developing engineering teams.
- Proficiency in Navisworks, Bluebeam, Revit, and MS Office.
Qualifications
- Experience working with Pipe-Flo.
- Strong knowledge of thermal stress analysis and expansion calculations.
- Knowledge of sustainability principles, energy-efficient designs, and energy codes.
- Strong client relationships.
- Familiarity with writing proposals including negotiating fees.
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and proficiency in design coordination software are essential.

Pay
Salary Range: $130k-$170k (depending on experience)
Schedule
This position offers a hybrid work environment, with a requirement of two in-office days per week in one of our California or Oregon offices.
