Process Manager Operations

About the Role

As a Process Manager at Cleveland-Cliffs Tek and Kote, you will lead a group of approximately 20 Operators in all operational activities, driving continuous improvement for your area in the plant. This role requires sufficient knowledge and experience to resolve complex social and technical problems. You will take immediate action to correct unsafe conditions and ensure compliance with safety guidelines, company/department policies, and procedures.

The Cleveland-Cliffs New Carlisle Works facility is a 24/7 operation located in New Carlisle, Indiana, producing cold-rolled, hot-dipped galvanized and galvannealed, and electrogalvanized steel coils.

Responsibilities

• Serves as performance coach and technical advisor to self-directed operations teams
• Ensures the team has required safety training and is passionate about safety
• Ensures complete compliance with all environmental regulations
• Facilitates continuous improvement for the operating process and institutionalizes these improvements into team standards and procedures
• Prioritizes, aligns, and coordinates operational tasks cross-functionally to achieve operational targets
• Tracks team metrics (e.g., absenteeism, overtime, business plan progress) and develops corrective measures as needed
• Works efficiently with union team representatives to coach and counsel team members
• Facilitates team meetings on topics including safety, environmental, quality, budget, or training, ensuring appropriate communication
• Identifies the need for team development (e.g., training, quality systems, operating techniques) and implements development activities
• Recognizes equipment deficiencies and improves reliability through coordination with Equipment Control maintenance teams
• Participates on project teams within the facility or with vendors to solve problems, improve quality, and reduce costs
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Leadership experience in manufacturing
• Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, advanced Excel, PowerPoint)
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience leading a manufacturing operations team
• Experience working in a union environment
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Experience in the steel or metals industry
