Responsibilities
- Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
- Listen for unusual sounds and view machines and equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machinery.
- Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Repair and maintain physical structures of the establishment.
- Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related steam and refrigeration, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, mill, grinder, and drills to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
- Must have worked as Maintenance I for a specific period outlined in the Maintenance II requirements before having the ability to test.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education and/or experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have a minimum of one year experience in a maintenance position.
- Must have their own set of hand tools (on good quality, list available upon request).
- Must demonstrate the ability to maintain the level of performance.

- Physical demands: Regularly stand, walk, use hands and arms, reach, talk, and hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work environment characteristic includes regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
