Process Lead, Control Fabrication

Position Purpose

The Process Lead, Controls Fabrication helps organize, direct, and complete portions of a project with a small team, with guidance from the Control Fabrication Group Lead. They will be the main contact for technical questions within the department. They ensure their team provides a quality product to the client on time and within budget. This position will require advanced knowledge and expertise in electrical theory, and electrical and mechanical fabrication, to lead projects effectively and efficiently to a successful completion.

Essential Responsibilities

• Organize and manage workflow to ensure team members understand their duties and delegated tasks.
• Answer technical questions from team members associated with electrical manufacturing.
• Provide guidance on wiring schematics and related items.
• Share skills and knowledge with others to help with department development.
• Aid in training others on building complex electrical projects.
• Oversee multiple projects while maintaining schedule, deadlines, and productions goals for team.
• Understand how projects flow through organization.
• Read, understand, and utilize all electrical and assembly schematics for product builds.
• Efficiently and effectively use fabrication tools to complete electrical and mechanical assembles.
• Utilize electrical skillset to properly fabricate complex electrical systems from start to finish.
• Utilize mechanical skillset to properly drill, tap, mount electrical components, cut metal, and install panels.
• Understand safety related requirements and practices for assigned product/element.
• Maintain awareness of project schedules and deadlines for team; raise concerns and/or suggest adjustments in an effective and timely manner if deadlines and/or goals are in jeopardy.
• Advanced understanding of quality control processes for assigned product/element to support quality control of elements and/or design flaws by flagging areas not meeting specifications and addressing appropriately through rework or bringing to the attention of others. Make improvement suggestions.
• Maintain effective and timely interdepartmental communication on project status; coordinate with others on elements passing through multiple departments.
• Interact with other departments as necessary to refine understanding of their needs and present suggestions, feedback, and progress reports.
• Independently complete complex projects with minimal supervision.
• Manage materials and supplies for team projects.
• Ensure product labeling requirements are accurately executed.
• Adhere to standard fabrication, assembly, test procedures, and checklists.
• Perform required maintenance and upkeep on equipment.
• Keep team motivated and informed during all stages of a project.
• Influence department to produce quality products at an efficient pace.
• Communicate with management on projects and team performance.
• Manage priorities as they change through a shift.
• Keep a clean, organized and safe workspace, including tools and equipment.
• Accurately capture all labor hours and material in Epicor.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or electrical/electronic technology degree/certification, or 2 years of practical electrical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 4+ years of electrical panel manufacturing experience.
• Thorough understanding of electrical theory and all electrical fabrication disciplines.
• Conceptualization of the electrical fabrication process from start to finish, a plus.
• Understanding and knowledge of UL/ETL/CE compliance.
• Advanced soldering and wiring skills.
• Comfortable using basic hand and power tools (screw gun, drill, jigsaw, hole punch, grinder, etc.).
• Able to distinguish colors for wiring purposes.
• Able to work with small pins and components.
• Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or similar programs.
• Knowledge of Epicor, Slack, and/or Box, a plus.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Capacity to work and lead in a small team environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility with work schedule. Normal work schedule is forty hours per week; however operational demands may necessitate other schedules to meet business needs.
• Willing to travel to other TAIT facilities or client sites, domestic or international. Travel to locations may occur a few times per year; trip durations are typically two weeks or less.
