How You Will Make an Impact
The Process Improvement Engineer assists/leads employees in achieving safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost targets. They oversee the inspection process, develop quality standards, conduct audits, and implement the Quality Management System (QMS).
The role involves identifying best practices, processes, and standard work for the QMS. The engineer maintains a safe work environment, trains the workforce on quality standards, conducts inspections, and ensures product quality.
The Process Improvement Engineer also participates in continuous improvement activities, investigates and corrects customer issues, and supports the implementation of the QMS.
Nuts and Bolts
- Maintain a safe work environment, respond to safety or environmental risks promptly
- Adhere to company safety regulations and train new employees on safety guidelines
- Train QC Inspectors on quality standards and inspection
- Develop and execute QMS processes for the quality team
- Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine quality standards and reliability
- Conduct in-process quality audits and review standards and specification requirements with production supervisors
- Audit final inspection function to ensure compliance with customer requirements and engineering drawings, standards, and specifications
- Assist in problem-solving and investigating customer issues and complaints

Position Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field (preferred)
- Previous experience in a quality control/quality assurance position (preferably in automotive manufacturing or quality assurance environment)
- Automotive experience a plus
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Hands-on experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Computer experience using Microsoft Office applications
- Experience in supplier quality functions
- Prior experience with Lean Manufacturing principles preferred
- Frequent standing (up to 8 hours), bending, stooping, squatting, reaching overhead, crawling (may be in confined spaces)
- Occasional sitting, walking, pushing
- Perform repetitive tasks with hands, ability to climb ladders and/or work in high places
- Must be capable of lifting up to 35 lbs
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Manage multiple tasks/projects
