Position Overview
As a member of the Boston Whaler team, this role provides manufacturing engineering support to Assembly Operations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Product Development & Engineering (PD&E), Maintenance, Purchasing, and Quality Assurance to support efficient production processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Product Development & Engineering (PD&E) throughout all phases of product development and integration to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles are applied, enabling efficient and cost-effective production.
- Ensure all related Bills of Material (BOMs), fixtures, and engineering documentation are complete and accurate prior to release to production.
- Investigate, process, verify, and implement engineering changes in accordance with established procedures.
- Review and process PACE suggestions, ensuring timely evaluation and closure.
- Audit, maintain, and optimize Bills of Material (BOMs) for accuracy and efficiency.
- Audit, update, and improve engineering documentation (e.g., prints, process sheets) to support production needs.
- Design and develop tools and fixtures to support manufacturing processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Provide support to production teams in issue resolution, new product introduction, continuous improvement initiatives, and implementation of changes.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
- Adhere to and enforce company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience, preferably in boat building or a related industry
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand production processes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with AS400/Profound systems preferred
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree (A.S.) in Engineering or a related field preferred

Working Conditions
- Ability to work extended shifts of 10 or more hours, including standing, bending, and reaching for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Work in a non-climate-controlled environment, with exposure to varying temperatures (which may exceed 100°F or fall below 10°F in certain production areas)
- Work in environments with fiberglass dust, as well as in fast-paced and moderately noisy conditions
- Flexibility to work both planned and unplanned overtime as business needs require
- Exposure to manufacturing conditions, including moving mechanical parts, elevated or precarious work areas, fumes, airborne particles, and potentially hazardous chemicals; moderate noise levels are typical in the work environment
