Reporting to the Sr. Process Engineer, the Process Engineering Technician provides support to the Process Engineers and operations to ensure production goals and productivity improvements are met. Occasional travel may be necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and meet standard work requirements.
  • Use computer programs to record data, make labels, print tooling layouts, obtain prints and specifications, print ship-sets, etc.
  • Promote positive teamwork and foster professionalism with all associates and internal/external customers.
  • Pursue future designs to help advance leading-edge technology.
  • Provide cost reduction and productivity improvements through continuous improvement projects, such as validating and improving processes, set-ups, and machine function.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Communicate between engineering, quality, and operations to assist with problem resolution.
  • Complete documentation accurately and on time, including reviewing, revising, and drafting standard work procedures, work instructions, process documents, and layouts.
  • Work cross-functionally to train operators, supervisors, and other employees on new equipment and/or processes.
  • Support company LEAN and High-Performance team objectives, including participation in Starpoint teams.
  • Use appropriate PPE for designated areas, including the manufacturing floor.
  • Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures; report unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Participate in peer-based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree or higher education a plus.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing or related experience, preferably in maintenance tooling or machining.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and problem-solving tools (e.g., fishbone, 5 Whys).
  • 5 years in improvement and reinforcement areas.

Skills

  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Proficiency in math, reading, and writing.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, multiplication, statistics.
  • 3-D modeling and technical writing experience (SOPs, work instructions, safety documents) a plus.
  • Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks.
  • Constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail.
  • Capable of writing detailed reports, training instructions, and Standard Work instructions.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance and functionality of various types of manufacturing equipment.
  • Understanding of plumbing, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, electrical equipment (systems up to 480 volts), carpentry, sheet metal fabrication, and design.
  • Strong programming knowledge in PLCs, HMIs, and Robotics.
  • Qualified welder or strong understanding of mechanics.

Physical Requirements

  • Exert 71 to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Exert 50 to 70 pounds of force frequently.
  • Exert up to 49 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Standing required for extended periods; walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting performed regularly.
  • High degree of manual dexterity, sometimes under restrictive conditions.
  • Flexible hours and short notice for overtime may be required.

Working Conditions

  • High noise levels from operating machines and equipment.
  • Physical hazards from operating machines and moving reels.
  • Work in areas requiring safety equipment (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection).
