Students will have opportunities to develop skills in: Process optimization and continuous improvementManufacturing data analysis and reportingRoot cause analysis and problem solvingProcess controls and quality systemsCapital project support and executionProcess safety and environmental complianceCross-functional teamwork in a heavy industrial environmentProfessional presentation and communication skills What You’ll Do The Process Engineering Co-Op supports Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams by helping improve manufacturing processes, plant performance, safety, and operational efficiency across MLC's facilities. Collect and analyze production, quality, and operational data to identify improvement opportunitiesAssist with engineering calculations, process evaluations, and performance studiesParticipate in troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis investigationsSupport continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, reliability, and productivityAssist with capital and plant improvement projects, including field inspections and startup activities (measurement of key process parameters, including air flows, mass flows, temperatures, etc.)Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to support plant objectivesParticipate in plant trials and evaluate results to support data-driven decision makingDevelop reports, recommendations, and presentations for engineering and plant leadership Required Qualifications Sophomore standing or higher pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related engineering discipline Minimum 2.75 GPA Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing, mining, and chemical processing environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and following all safety and environmental requirements Preferred Qualifications Coursework or project experience in Process Engineering, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Process Controls, Manufacturing Systems, or Statistical AnalysisExperience performing engineering calculations, technical analysis, laboratory work, or data analysisInterest in manufacturing, mining, process industries, or industrial operationsAbility to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment The Fine Print Benefits and perquisites may vary based on the nature and location of each job.
