About the role

Join the Crawfordsville - Spartech Team as a Process Engineer to support our variety of customers in a fast-paced environment. This role focuses on optimizing efficiency, product cost, quality, capacity utilization, and operability of production processes, while also managing CAPEX projects.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the process expert for all manufacturing processes on-site and lead troubleshooting of technology and quality-related issues, interfacing with corporate teams as necessary.
  • Identify, initiate, and lead projects to improve process safety, quality, service, cost, capacity, and productivity through engineering and continuous improvement methods.
  • Work with various functions to identify and transfer processes/products into the site to balance capacity utilization.
  • Direct activities to ensure approved products and projects are introduced on time, collaborating with internal maintenance teams and outside contractor partners.
  • Ensure new production processes are implemented in compliance with EHS regulations, cost control, waste reduction, and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot defects and variation, perform root cause analysis, apply systematic problem-solving techniques, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Engage in daily operations to resolve equipment downtime issues, assure quality and productivity, and meet service targets.
  • Create and maintain product/process documentation, including specifications, test methods, and change management documentation.
  • Provide critical support to site leadership in cultural journeys of EHS, Quality, Customer Focus, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Drive visual operation performance metrics to the shop floor.
  • Communicate with site and corporate Leadership teams as required.
  • Report to the Plant Manager and support ad hoc assignments from plant and corporate teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Skills

  • Training and experience in continuous improvement methods, statistics, and designed experiments (beneficial).
  • Six Sigma knowledge (beneficial); Green Belt certification (a plus).
  • Demonstrated capability and knowledge of equipment reliability concepts and methods.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience, teamwork, and communication skills.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb, twist, turn, grasp, and move about the facility.
