Process Engineer, Metrology

About the role

The Process Engineer for Metrology supports the development of manufacturable, repeatable, and reliable Metrology for advanced devices in various industries including Aerospace, Defense, Bioelectronics, and High-Speed Communications. They collaborate with engineers across departments to ensure Metrology processes are optimized and aligned with production needs.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Integration Engineers, Customers, Development Engineers, and Metrology Engineers to measure experimental outcomes and adjust or optimize wafer characterization.
• Ensure effective Metrology during new product introductions and maintain consistent performance on production lots.
• Guide and assist Metrology Technicians through complex process steps.
• Analyze metrology results and disposition lots based on data and established criteria.
• Report and summarize analysis results to the Integration Engineering Team and Process Development Engineering Team.
• Provide effective pass-downs to maintain uninterrupted operations.
• Sustain and improve characterization for wafer fabrication.
• Work with equipment engineering, operation, and management to enhance cycle times, tool availability, quality, repeatability, and reproducibility.
• Preserve and update characterization for new products and maintain existing recipes and inspections.
• Create and maintain operating specifications for production Metrology.
• Maintain Metrology health through SPC and respond to out-of-control events according to action plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Material & Science, Physics, or Chemistry with 10+ years of experience.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Material & Science, Physics, or Chemistry with 7+ years of experience.
• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Material & Science, Physics, or Chemistry with 4+ years of experience.
• Processing experience in a semiconductor fabrication facility.
• Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Basic understanding of algebraic concepts and data analysis.
• Ability to troubleshoot and address root causes of Metrology issues.
• Knowledge of semiconductor processing techniques and maintenance activities.
• Ability to plan and prioritize tasks, manage overlapping operations, and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in operating characterization tools, writing and running recipes, and performing particle detection, thickness, uniformity, material composition, surface roughness, trench depth, and contamination metrology.
• Offset shift flexibility (Front-End Days or Back-End Days).

$100,000 - $140,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

Offset shifts: Front-End Days (starts on Sundays, ends on Thursdays) or Back-End Days (starts on Tuesdays, ends Saturdays).
