Under the direction of the Process Engineering Supervisor, support the Operations Superintendent in monitoring product specifications. Drive small capital projects to increase refinery productivity and efficiency. Provide technical assistance to Project Engineering, outside consultants, and firms for efficiency monitoring and expansion. Support Operations in unit monitoring and optimization to meet refinery goals. Contribute to Process Safety Management for regulatory compliance and process safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for plant operations, including daily monitoring, troubleshooting, and process optimization for assigned refinery units.
  • Collaborate with operators and engineers in a team environment to maintain, troubleshoot, and propose process improvements.
  • Work directly with drafting and other engineers on small project scopes to design and size equipment.
  • Support process catalysts and chemicals bidding by liaising with vendors for information exchange.
  • Assist in planning unit shutdowns and startups; administer performance test runs and provide operational data or drawings to vendors or maintenance as needed.
  • Track performance data using spreadsheets and share information with vendors or project engineering groups.
  • Provide lab or operational data to Project Engineering for expansion purposes.
  • Work with computer personnel on TDC/APC control systems to improve monitoring.
  • Research and monitor emerging technologies to enhance future refinery strategies.
  • Provide after-hours and turnaround (12-hour shift) support for maintenance and operations as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with supervisors via oral and written reports.
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) functions, including Management of Change (MOCs) and Process Hazard Analysis for assigned units.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience.
  • College engineering internship preferred; oil and refinery internship highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of economic principles, project management, and customer service.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software, including Excel.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and address mechanical issues.
  • Familiarity with process modeling software preferred.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written).
  • Demonstrated competencies in priority setting, organizational agility, peer relations, teamwork, and leadership.
  • Ability to analyze, reason, and solve increasingly complex problems.
  • Flexibility to adjust to frequent changes and schedules to meet departmental goals.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship provided).
