About the Role

The Novelis Guthrie, KY team is seeking a dynamic and experienced Process Engineer for our greenfield startup. This role is responsible for providing advanced business process management expertise in process and product quality control, development of new processes/products/practices, application of statistics, and identification and resolution of customer problems, including technical service to customers. We are looking for a collaborative team player with initiative to own and drive Process Quality in alignment with the facility's WCM® excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the site business management system, including interfaces with external organizations (primarily NOVI and ATL).
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards certifications as required by the business unit, primarily IATF 16949 and ISO 9001:2015, as well as customer-specific requirements.
  • Plan and lead the internal audit function, including readiness for annual registrar (SAI), corporate audits, and customer audits, surveys, and assessments.
  • Serve as the key user for document control and repository (EtQ).
  • Support the Process Leader and PPQ Leader on management reviews, major quality initiatives, and process improvements.
  • Assess and resolve process deviations that lead to decreased quality, utilization, and throughput.
  • Develop process control strategies to ensure long-term product and process capability.
  • Develop and implement projects ranging from near-immediate needs to long-term critical initiatives to optimize the business management system.
  • Participate in the development of new products, process documentation, and refinement of existing ones for end-use effectiveness, manufacturing cost control, and market development.
  • Determine and eliminate the causes of quality defects using problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, A3, and DMAIC.
  • Use WCM methodologies to resolve customer complaints and solve internal quality concerns, often involving technical assistance and advice to customers.
  • Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications where applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field (Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in relevant Quality Management System responsibility with an emphasis on the auto industry in a large tier-one organization.
  • Experience with assignments of increasing complexity addressing the implementation of IATF 16949, typically involving multiple deployment initiatives.
  • Superior customer service skills and excellent communication (oral and written) skills, with the ability to engage all levels of the organization.
  • Strong human relation skills to motivate, train, understand, and develop others to meet objectives.
  • Ability to take initiative, foster collaborative relationships, and proactively address employee needs.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in software applications, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new programs quickly.
  • Leadership skills to direct, lead, and develop personnel to achieve personal, plant, and corporate objectives.

Location

The Novelis Guthrie facility is located in Guthrie, Kentucky, approximately 30 minutes from the Tennessee state line near Clarksville, Tennessee, and Hopkinsville, Kentucky. As Novelis’ newest facility, Guthrie will house a heat treatment and pretreatment line serving the North American automotive market and employ 125 residents. The area offers outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and hiking, and features the Guthrie Transportation Museum, a hub of the city’s renewal efforts. The Guthrie team enjoys partnerships with Hopkinsville Community College, Todd County High School, the Guthrie Fire Department, and several local Rotary Clubs.
