The Entry-Level Process Engineer focuses on the design and engineering of manufacturing facilities and equipment, supporting facility infrastructure and critical utility systems. This role works closely with other architects, engineers, and designers, as well as internal and external team members, to ensure a coordinated, constructible, and complete design.

Responsibilities

• Supports the documentation of the process design scope in coordination with other disciplines.
• Works on one or more projects concurrently and manages time effectively.
• Solves complex problems under the direction and supervision of a mentor or supervisor.
• Performs engineering calculations, including heat transfer and pressure drop calculations.
• Supports field installation teams and executes construction site observations.
• Contributes to all levels of design: studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
• Creates engineering deliverables, such as:
  • Block and Process Flow Diagrams
  • User Requirements Specifications
  • Equipment List
  • Equipment General Arrangements
  • Equipment Datasheets
  • Utility Summary
  • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)

Requirements

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or bioprocess engineering.
• 0 to 3 years of experience in a design firm setting.
• Fundamentals of Engineering exam registration or completion preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fundamental experience with performing engineering calculations, developing and implementing discipline systems designs.
• Fundamental experience with chemistry/biochemistry.
• Fundamental experience with process modeling, material and energy balances, and basic sizing calculations.
• Fundamental experience with fluid mechanics, hydraulic modeling, and heat transfer.
• Strong communication skills and ability to participate in internal cross-discipline project team coordination.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Proficiency in engineering software applications, including computer-aided drafting, process modeling, and calculation programs.
