Process Engineer

Primary Purpose

Making sure everything runs smoothly in the manufacturing process, improving equipment, solving quality issues, and helping teams improve their work.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve equipment issues.
  • Perform system analysis and evaluation to determine root cause of failures using statistical methods.
  • Improve equipment performance.
• Investigate Quality Issues (Internal and External).
  • Leading efforts to troubleshoot quality and productivity issues.
• Communicate with Area Manager, shift supervisors, and associates / provide as backup in Area Manager's absence.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the Technical Assistant in completing daily tasks and projects including monthly line yield reports and daily line run data.
• Cook up production trials.

• Facilitate and support self-directed work teams in reaching consensus with respect to process improvements, material dispositions, production delays, etc.

• Develop and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Develop and organize training material to transfer appropriate process/production and safety knowledge to associates.
• Manage raw material inventory (chemicals, line supplies).
  • Assist in proper specification and choice of highest quality, lowest cost raw material commodities (i.e. Paint, & Chemicals) for utilization in production processes.
• Resolve vendor supply issues.

• Facilitate continuous improvement projects through team efforts, and benchmarking across Bluescope businesses.

• Absorb all safety issues related to production and ensure that safety goals are achieved.

Education & Experience Qualifications

• Minimum: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or manufacturing related field or 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• 5 years manufacturing experience.
• Preferred: 2 years in a supervisory or people management role.
• 5 years of Steelscape product experience.

Pay Range

The expected pay scale for this role is $97,500.00 - $112,700.00 annually, depending on experience, skill set, and qualifications. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a targeted annual bonus of 15%, as well as health and welfare benefits and a 401(k) match, in accordance with BlueScope policies.
