Process Engineer

Essential Functions

• Define Key process parameters and establish process capabilities and control methodology.
• Develop efficient methods of manufacturing to meet product requirements.
• Develop and implement cost reductions, product improvement, process improvement and yield improvement processes that are sustainable.
• Maintain document control systems and associated databases.
• Interface with sales personnel and customers to resolve any differential between customer requirements and SMC capabilities.
• Monitor product performance – properties, physical characteristics (length, straightness, surface condition) and yield.
• Review customer specifications for acceptance.
• Interface with customers on quality related issues.

Qualifications

• Education and Experience: BS in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science or Chemical Engineering, with at least 2 years of relevant experience in the metals processing industry. MS in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science or Chemical Engineering preferred.
• Special Skills: Knowledge of the principles and practices of VAR/VIM/ESR melting, ability to prepare written reports and correspondence as well as presentations to senior leadership, ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally, ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to troubleshoot and address customer concerns, ability to present to senior leadership team.
