Process Engineer

About the role

Morgan Advanced Materials is a world leader in advanced materials science and engineering of ceramics, carbon and composites. The Performance Carbon business makes high‑performance self‑lubricating bearing and seal components used in pumps, industrial and domestic applications, employing advanced carbon/graphite, silicon carbide, alumina and zirconia to engineer lightweight, low‑friction bearings and seals for extreme‑temperature, corrosive or hygienic environments. The role provides technical support to a functional area of the Green End processing (flour prep, molding, kilning, impregnation, sintering, etc.), developing and managing manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and AS 9100D, and leading continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Technical support to a functional area of the Green End processing (i.e. flour prep, molding, kilning, impregnation, sintering, etc.).
• Develop, implement, and manage the manufacturing processes, methods, and equipment designed to ensure continuous production of advanced ceramic and composite materials that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.
• Ensure that these manufacturing processes, methods, and equipment meet or exceed the requirements of our ISO 9001:2015 and AS 9100D Certifications and are consistent with established standards, customer specifications, and production goals.
• Perform roles and responsibilities in accordance with direction from the Process Engineering Manager.
• Assumes the role of primary technical support for an assigned functional area, could require travel between two sites.
• Independently communicates with supervisors, technicians, operators and managers to identify and correct causes of process disruptions.
• Identifies opportunities to improve existing processes and takes initiative to propose and implement solutions in a timely manner when possible.
• Writes and presents proposals for larger scale process improvement opportunities including cost/benefit analysis.
• Writes and submits capital expenditure requests.
• Leads small-medium capital expenditure projects for functional area of responsibility.
• Works with suppliers to identify and test new materials, equipment and software that could improve performance or reduce operational cost.
