About the Role

The Process Engineer will apply their technical knowledge and operating experience to troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues promptly for safe, stable, and optimized plant performance. This role involves identifying process improvement opportunities and executing approved projects with innovative and cost-effective solutions. The engineer will work independently with minimal oversight, demonstrating strong leadership and professionalism while interacting with all site personnel. Effective communication is key to leveraging technical expertise and enhancing the organization's technical capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot problems within the Methanol and Ammonia manufacturing facilities.
• Monitor performance of processes through all stages of production, interacting daily with the operations group.
• Identify ways to optimize performance or ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Conduct research to develop new and cost-effective solutions for common operating issues.
• Participate in the development and management of plant improvement projects.
• Design, plan, and execute approved project assignments.
• Monitor and direct activities to ensure construction, installation, and testing match project specifications.
• Provide production progress reports and plant efficiency studies as requested by management.
• Collect data and work with catalyst providers to evaluate catalyst performance, ensuring efficiencies are understood and catalyst life is projected for future turnaround planning.
• Develop or update process flow diagrams and process and instrumentation drawings as needed.
• Lead the Management of Change (MOC) process for operational and process technical changes.
• Lead MOC and small capital project-related HAZOP studies.
• Participate in 5-year cyclical unit-wide Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies.
• Develop process operating procedures and limits for the operations group.
• Communicate effectively with all branches of the organization and assist other departments as necessary.
• Maintain a professional image and follow all relevant company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required.
• 2+ years of experience preferred, particularly as a plant owner’s employee in a continuous process industry (e.g., chemicals or oil refining).
• Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.

• Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
• Effective communication through various means.
• Exposure to moderate-to-loud noise levels.

Schedule

• Monday – Friday with an available rolling 80s schedule.
• May work longer hours to meet deadlines as necessary.
• Willingness to work call-outs on a plant-needed basis.
