Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrate exceptional attendance and reliability
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures; promote safe work practices
- Monitor and maintain proper batch storage, delivery, weighing, and mixing
- Cook with Quality Control and raw material carriers to approve unloading of materials
- Evaluate batch plant control system data and make adjustments to maintain process efficiency and control
- Monitor and control furnace and forehearth operations to ensure optimal glass formation and throughput
- Monitor and adjust critical process variables including gas firing, electric boost power, pressure, temperature, flow rates, oxygen, bubblers, glass level, and batch line
- Inspect furnace and forehearths at required intervals and address identified issues
- Absorb and guide maintenance personnel during batch and furnace repairs
- Guide and support maintenance personnel during batch and furnace repairs
- Perform minor repairs and process adjustments as required
- Maintain exceptional housekeeping and organization in all assigned areas including batch house, furnace levels, and control room
- General housekeeping duties
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- 3–5 years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience with coating processes, wet formed fiberglass mat processes, or similar manufacturing operations preferred
- Strong technical writing skills with high attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) Lean Six Sigma skills and experience preferred
- Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple short- and long-term projects
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once trained
- Manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Fluent in verbal and written English
- Ability to follow direction and specific instructions
- Good communication skills
- Ability to safely perform heavy lifting up to 50 pounds on a routine basis
- Comfortable with standing for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Must be able to walk and/or stand 90% of the shift
