Process Engineer
About the role
Engineered Profiles is seeking a Process Engineer to support manufacturing, new product development, process improvement, and technical execution within a custom plastic extrusion environment. This role works closely with Engineering, Tooling, Quality, Production, Sales, and Operations to support product launches, improve manufacturing processes, troubleshoot production challenges, and strengthen technical standards across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support new product development, product launches, and production trials.
- Aid with manufacturability reviews, technical project planning, and process improvement activities.
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve production, quality, tooling, and process-related issues.
- Support technical quoting and customer-related technical discussions as needed.
- Develop, maintain, and improve process standards, work instructions, checklists, and technical documentation.
- Review manufacturing performance, process data, and production feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
- Spend time on the production floor supporting troubleshooting and practical solutions.
- Communicate project status, risks, technical needs, and improvement opportunities.
- Continue developing knowledge of plastic extrusion, tooling, materials, equipment, and manufacturing systems.
Skills, Qualifications, Education And/or Relevant Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret prints, specifications, and technical requirements.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable balancing office-based work with hands-on production floor support.
- Basic computer skills including spreadsheets, documentation, and reporting.
- Willingness to learn new systems, tools, and technical concepts.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in plastics, extrusion, custom manufacturing, or a similar, technical manufacturing environment.
- Experience with process improvement, production troubleshooting, product launches, or technical project support.
- Exposure to tooling, quality systems, manufacturing documentation, KPI tracking, or continuous improvement.
- Experience working directly with production teams to solve manufacturing problems.

Manufacturing issues are addressed with stronger technical support and clearer communication.
Process standards and documentation become more consistent and useful.
Production, Quality, Tooling, Sales, and Engineering stay better aligned on technical priorities.
Improvement opportunities are identified, communicated, and acted on.
The Process Engineer becomes a trusted technical resource for manufacturing support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

- Learn and retain information on products, operating procedures, quality requirements, process standards, and technical systems.
- Work well in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
- Move throughout a manufacturing facility as needed to support trials, production activity, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication.
- Use a computer and business systems for documentation, analysis, communication, and reporting.
- Occasionally lift or carry materials, tools, or equipment as required by job activity.
