Responsibilities

• Establish and monitor robust initial processes to ensure efficient and quality practices, optimizing cycles and output rates.
• Collaborate with the development team on new projects to specify and establish new equipment, tools, and processes, while monitoring data collection and maintaining process controls.
• Work with vendors to resolve issues and set high expectations for the technical group to drive improvements and meet company objectives.
• Provide training for technicians and supervisors across all shifts.
• Implement and monitor systems to analyze processes, determine capabilities, and identify improvements to reach full potential.
• Perform Design of Experiments and utilize Statistical Process Control.
• Analyze data to troubleshoot equipment, tools, and processes, establishing process variables and tolerances.
• Set realistic rates for all secondary equipment and ensure efficient, quality assembly and lining practices.
• Implement corrective actions, follow up on long-term solutions, and evaluate efficiency issues.
• Recommend processing or steel changes to improve the assembly and lining process.
• Help establish productivity enhancement plans for specific machines and assist in broader productivity initiatives.
• Identify, specify, and implement automated appraisal systems and reject reduction strategies.
• Monitor and oversee sampling of new and existing equipment in the assigned area.
• Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
• Develop and implement permanent corrective actions based on root cause analysis.
• Coordinate cross-functional team meetings to develop the best solutions supporting all departments.

Requirements

• High School diploma (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• 10+ years of technical experience in plastics or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Computer operation skills.
• Working knowledge of scientific molding principles and Design of Experiments.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma tools for Continuous Improvement and Root Cause Analysis.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Perform ratios.

Skills

• Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift, walk regularly, and use hands to handle materials and equipment, including reaching and bending.
• Full use and range of arms, legs, visual, verbal, and hearing abilities.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Fundamental understanding of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methods, tools, and standards.
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Knowledge of packaging applications (closures, bottles, and tubes).
• Ability to plan, control, and assure product and process quality in accordance with quality principles.
• Knowledge of the closure industry is a plus.
