Responsibilities
- Set up, prove out, and optimize true 5-axis CNC machining centers, multi-axis mills, and CNC lathes for production.
- Validate new and existing CNC machining processes to ensure repeatability, quality, and efficiency.
- Develop and refine CNC programs, working from engineering drawings and models to achieve robust machining processes.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex machining and process issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in machining processes, tooling strategies, and setups to improve cycle time, quality, and throughput.
- Support manufacturing engineering projects, including process validation, tooling selection, and fixture design reviews.
- Contribute to production launches and new product introductions by developing and stabilizing machining processes prior to full-scale production.
- Train and support operators and other personnel on proper CNC setup, operation, and process best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure that machining processes align with design intent and quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of setups, process parameters, and improvements to support repeatable production.
Essential Skills
- 3–5+ years of experience in a process or manufacturing engineering role, with a strong focus on CNC machining.
- Extensive hands-on experience independently setting up, proving out, and optimizing true 5-axis CNC machining centers.
- Proficiency in CNC programming and working with CNC programs for complex parts and operations.
- Experience with CAM software, such as CamWorks or other comparable CAM platforms.
- SolidWorks experience for working with 3D models and supporting manufacturing processes.
- Experience in process development, continuous improvement, or manufacturing engineering projects.
- Experience supporting production launches and new product introductions from a machining and process standpoint.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with CamWorks specifically, or the ability and willingness to develop advanced skills in CamWorks.
- Experience in process validation, including documenting and verifying machining processes for consistency and quality.
- Exposure to tooling selection and fixture design reviews to ensure stable and efficient machining processes.
- Interest in growing into a broader manufacturing engineering role through ongoing training and project responsibilities.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to lead technical discussions on process improvements.
