Process Designer

Job Responsibilities

• Creates 2D and 3D technical drawings and models using computer-aided design (CAD) systems, such as AutoCAD and Revit, based on the designs provided by the engineering disciplines.
• Effectively applies discipline design and detailing fundamentals in developing designs.
• Produces well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness from layouts, sketches, verbal and/or written instructions adhering to team and discipline standards.
• Checks own work carefully to minimize all deficiencies, errors and omissions.
• Works with the Engineering department to coordinate and understand process design.
• Affords assistance in the production of specifications and other standards required in the design process.
• Performs analysis or calculations as assigned.
• Construction Support: Subject to final approval, the senior designer checks shop drawings and submittals data for conformance with contract documents. The senior designer advises and assists construction personnel in the interpretation and clarification of construction documents as directed, providing timely solutions to field problems, preparing field orders, addenda, and record drawings. Field assignments may include assisting in site surveys, final design and as-builts.
• Planning, Scheduling and Profitability: The senior designer assists by providing required information on a timely basis and keeping supervisor apprised as to progress of the work. The senior designer maintains orderly work file, prepares clear well-written memos/correspondence, and maintains good communication of status with disciplines. The senior designer assists with drawing planning, management and adherence to schedule. The senior designer designs project within provided design budget and tracks additional hours utilized, including when scope is expanded.
• Project Management: The senior designer coordinates work with other disciplines as to dimensions and interference to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions.
• Professional Development: Participates in the professional community organizations and trade organizations within discipline.
• Leadership: Adheres to established company standards and policies. The senior designer will train both formally and informally Designers within the specific discipline.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• 3+ years of experience in design and drafting software.
• Desirable experience in applicable design work.
• Proficient in the use of current technology in discipline.
• Experience in several CAD programs, specifically AutoCAD Plant 3D.
