About the role
The Process Design Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing process design changes that support facility operations, chemical processing, waste handling, and system integration. This role ensures process modifications maintain performance, safety, and compatibility with upstream and downstream facility interfaces.Responsibilities
- Develop process calculations, design inputs, technical evaluations, and system modifications.
- Prepare and revise process flow diagrams, P&IDs, process descriptions, and equipment/process datasheets.
- Evaluate impacts of design changes on flow, pressure, temperature, chemistry, batch timing, and throughput.
- Support design changes affecting tanks, transfer systems, filtration, solvent extraction, chemical addition, and waste routing.
- Define process requirements for other engineering disciplines.
- Support hazards reviews, design reviews, test planning, and implementation activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in process engineering or process design in industrial or chemical facilities.
- Knowledge of process calculations and process documentation.
- Experience in radioactive waste processing, chemical separations, or hazardous process systems.
- Familiarity with batch processing and waste transfer systems.

Other Job Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
