Main responsibilities
- Learn, develop, and optimize tooling design for cold heading processes, ensuring the shapes and geometries required for each part can be produced reliably and efficiently.
- Design tooling and define manufacturing processes for new parts, including heading and other related operations, with focus on stability, efficiency, and tooling cost reduction.
- Review and improve tooling design for current parts together with production and workshop teams.
- Support production in troubleshooting tooling and process issues, helping solve problems quickly and effectively when parts are not running as expected.
- Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement, including:
- reducing setup times,
- improving machine performance,
- optimizing feeding systems,
- improving vibrating bowls and part flow,
- increasing overall production efficiency.
- Evaluate part feasibility for new customer requests, including production difficulty, tooling implications, and most suitable manufacturing approach.
- Work with suppliers to negotiate, source, and purchase tooling and technical items needed to keep operations running smoothly.
- Cook up with internal teams including Production, Quality, Sales, and Tooling to improve product manufacturability and production performance.
- Promote standardized solutions aligned with CELO standards whenever possible.
Qualifications
- Engineering background preferred.
- Interest in or experience with cold heading, tooling design, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong willingness to learn the technical side of tooling design for forming parts in cold heading.
- Hands-on mindset and strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience in process improvement within a manufacturing environment is highly valued.
- Comfortable working closely with equipment, operators, workshop teams, and external suppliers.
- Able to combine technical analysis with practical execution on the shop floor.
- CAD knowledge is a plus.
- Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing tooling or technical purchases is a plus.
