About the role

The Process Controls Specialist performs assignments across the entire range of plant equipment, including Injection Molding, Assembly, Extrusion, and Bag Making. Responsibilities include checking equipment operation to meet plant or department requirements, diagnosing and determining root causes of problems, making corrections, and repairing or replacing units as necessary. The role involves discussing findings with department personnel, developing solutions, and making recommendations for equipment changes, improvements, or installations. The Specialist also assists other process technicians, engineering, and sales teams as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a quality product is produced to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Support all departments in the specification and integration of electrical/electronic controls as part of the continuous improvement process, ensuring safe operation of equipment and adherence to NEC and NEMA codes.
  • Support maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and training for electrical/electronic controls, fostering a close working relationship to strengthen controls troubleshooting techniques and knowledge of electrical controls applications.
  • Provide electrical controls expertise in support of day-to-day manufacturing operations.
  • Perform PLC and HMI programming in support of all departments.
  • Install electrical controls devices/components for reliability and continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop accurate electrical schematics for all controls projects.
  • Provide direction to OEMs regarding electrical controls specifications for new equipment, electrical standardization, HMI format, data acquisition requirements, and electrical documentation.
  • Support engineering and maintenance on corrective action for improvement projects as assigned.
  • Design, integrate, and support data acquisition systems for real-time plant performance tracking on existing and new equipment.
  • Oversee food safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2-year AS technical degree or equivalent; Journeyman electrician preferred.
  • Five to ten years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Project Management preferred.
  • Background in training, programming, and experience with Allen Bradley PLC, Siemens PLC, HMI, AC/DC, and Servo drive configurations.
  • Knowledge and experience in Six Sigma and Lean are desirable.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Frequent use of hands to finger, feel, reach, or handle machinery.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Visual acuity required for tasks.
  • Moderate working conditions with exposure to variable noise levels and moving mechanical parts.
