About the role

Our site in Riegelwood, NC is seeking a Process Chemist to join our team. In this role, you will support batch manufacturing, new product development, scale-up, and continual improvement. The Process Chemist participates as part of the Site Leadership Team to drive Safety, Quality, and Continual Improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong working knowledge of processes ranging in scale from 5L to 1000 Gallons.
  • Execute standard batch manufacturing processes.
  • Perform process monitoring, troubleshooting, and identification of deviations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve process efficiency and yield.
  • Coordinate with the management team to evaluate the feasibility of new projects.
  • Write and revise SOPs.
  • Ensure accurate SAP order execution.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records.
  • Communicate and present information in a clear, organized manner.
  • Operate forklifts, pumps, valves, and other miscellaneous equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor routine maintenance as required.
  • Adjust schedule to cover shifts or support implementation of new processes as needed.
  • Demonstrate conformance to the Quality Management System.
  • Comply with safety and environmental requirements.
  • Work in a cross-functional team to drive Safety, Quality, and Continual Improvement.

  • Perform other functions as requested by management.

Requirements

  • BS in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience interpreting analytical results.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Knowledge of proper safe handling/disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous documentation habits.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with experience presenting results.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Commitment to Safety and Continual Improvement.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
  • Moderate physical effort required, including heavy lifting (50 lbs), walking, bending, loading items on shelves, shrink-wrapping pallets, labeling drums, pails, or boxes, and loading/unloading trucks with a forklift.
  • Second shift availability.

Qualifications

Outstanding candidates will have:

  • 2+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing (preferred).
  • Experience with scale-up.
  • SAP proficiency.
