Job Description Summary

Krystal Biotech seeks a motivated and data-driven manufacturing engineer to lead troubleshooting and process optimization in GMP manufacturing. The Engineer will integrate process engineering, automation, and data analytics, supporting development of data-driven monitoring and predictive maintenance programs, and intelligent manufacturing capabilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as primary interface between Manufacturing, Automation, and Facilities teams to diagnose and resolve process and equipment issues.
  • Support day-to-day upstream manufacturing operations, ensuring equipment and processes are within validated parameters.
  • Develop deep familiarity with control systems and partner with Automation and Facilities teams to troubleshoot issues.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize automation configurations and data collection tools.
  • Collaborate with Process Development and Manufacturing Sciences to ensure process design aligns with automation behavior.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and foster a proactive problem-solving culture.

Minimum Qualifications & Desired Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant technical field
  • Prior experience in regulated manufacturing or process engineering environment (biotech, pharmaceutical, or adjacent industry)
  • Exposure to industrial automation systems (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA platforms)
  • Familiarity with GMP principles and documentation standards
  • Upstream bioprocessing, cell culture, or bioreactor operations experience
  • Process engineering background in biologics / CGT GMP manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience with process equipment troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of process controls and automation systems
  • Basic understanding of facilities/utilities systems (HVAC, cleanrooms)
  • Experience with process data and historians, and data analysis tools
  • Interest in predictive maintenance and data analytics
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
