Job Location
This position is located on-site in Yankton, SD. We are situated in Southeast South Dakota: on the banks of the Missouri River and minutes from Lewis and Clark Lake where you can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreational activities.
What You Will Be Doing
- Closely examine production methods, materials, and facilities, constantly seeking out areas of improvement, and initiate any necessary action with vendors and internal Vishay departments to bring about identified product/process improvement.
- Investigates production and process problems and takes necessary action to bring about practical and effective solutions.
- Executing Process-FMEA analyses, identifying potential failure modes, and implementing corrective actions through process changes, equipment updates, and control system improvements to mitigate risk.
- Support installation, commissioning, startup and maintenance of automated equipment.
- Defining, developing, and maintaining automated manufacturing systems, including PLC controls (e.g., Allen-Bradley), HMI/SCADA applications, and custom machine interfaces, to support process capability, quality, and efficiency improvements.
- Maintaining comprehensive process and equipment documentation, including work instructions, machine schematics, control logic, and software programs.
- Driving continuous improvement of process capability, equipment reliability, and production efficiency through data-driven analysis and system optimization.
- Acting as a key liaison between process engineering and automation teams to ensure alignment between process requirements and equipment functionality.
What You Will Bring Along
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Three to five years of industrial process/automation experience.
- A high level of mechanical aptitude and ability to translate design and process ideas to useable specifications is required.
- Strong programming skills in Allen-Bradley PLCs.
- Experience in VB.NET and VB6 development.
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, Modbus).
- Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings.
